Human beings have always learned best through stories. Before written language, our history was kept and passed on by the storyteller. That’s still the best way to teach it. History is just a collection of stories. So teach it that way! Stories stick in kid’s minds but facts and dates don’t.

The idea of double-consciousness applies to white people too, but in a different way. White people are subject to oppression, but they are also beneficiaries of racial privilege. An oft-used example of this is the story of Irish immigration to the USA. After centuries of brutal exploitation mass murder and the horrors of the Great Famine thousands of Irish boarded the Comics studies coffin ships and headed to America in the th century. The Irish had suffered grievously from both class and national oppression.

Upon arrival, they became a despised minority as symbolized by the sign “No Irish Need Apply”. In America, the Irish met another despised minority, black people, many of them in slavery. The Irish brought with them a culture of resistance that was born out of their struggle with English imperialism. The Irish had a choice. Would they resist becoming white people and join in solidarity with another despised minority that also had a culture of resistance? Or would they fight to become white people as they became bitter enemies of their potential black allies?

Imagine how much further along we would be if we’d acquired that basic knowledge we are struggling to build now back when we were seven years old. Imagine being fascinated by history’s true stories then, instead of twenty or thirty years later. Imagine being fueled by lasting impressions of the past, armed with a foundation of historical knowledge, and buoyed by a desire to learn as you make your way through life. That’s the history habit, and it’s a gift every person should receive as a child, instead of having to fight to develop it as an adult.

Another option is to automatically delete all your browsing History every time you close your browser. Division of American into 50 different states is a story in itself. It was only in the 18th century that the efforts to divide America into states began mainly after the American revolutionary war. George Washington was the star for America in the American revolutionary war which began as a revolt against the colonial rule of British. It started in the year 1775. George Washington was fittingly rewarded for his efforts as he was made the first president of USA. There were 13 colonies under the British rule which developed into 50 states over time. All the 50 states weren’t formed at once though. The formation was spread out over the years. Delaware was announced as the first state of USA in the year 1787. The last one was Hawaii in the year 1959.

Taking The Deal has left white people largely at the mercy of our wealthy elite. When times are flush, The Deal doesn’t look so bad to the white people who only care about their own short run “success”. But remember what everyone who lives year-round in Vegas knows. The Dealer always wins in the end. When the economy goes sour, white people are subject to exactly the kind of misery and exploitation that taking The Deal was supposed to prevent.
