Dr_-Maegan-Istok.jpg
Maegan Istok, DCI am originally from a small town in Michigan born to a dental hygienist and an engineer. It is from them that I get my desire to help people and my beliefs about how to go about it. I am very fortunate that they pushed me to always do my best at everything I attempted no matter what it is; school/work, sports or having a solid moral character. I do believe that any success I have in my life is attributed to them!

After high school I completed the prerequisites needed for Chiropractic school at Michigan State. I attended Life University for my Chiropractic education as well as finishing my bachelor’s degree in Liberal Sciences in the meantime. Over the last few years I have had the opportunity to practice in a variety of different locations as my husband is pursuing his Masters in Nursing Anesthesia.

In high school I played at least one sport per season. In 9th grade I was diagnosed with exercise induced asthma. In 10th grade playing in a basketball game I slammed into an opponent, and as I did my entire spine cracked up and down. After that I didn’t feel like I was put together right. I began having the new sensation that I needed to “crack my back”. My mother suggested that I see her Chiropractor. From my first adjustment I was hooked. I loved everything about it, the sound, the feeling, but most of all I loved the way I felt in the weeks after I got adjusted. I was no longer feeling uncomfortable, or out of place anymore. After getting adjusted for a few months, I realized that I had not used my inhaler during sports for months. I felt like I was moving more efficiently as well, jumping higher and running faster. In addition my debilitating menstrual cramps and headaches that came with that time of the month were not as severe. I was now seeing the results of a fully functioning nervous system. Then, I knew I was destined to share my newly found potential with the world through becoming a Chiropractor.

In chiropractic school I was introduced to a technique called CBP (Chiropractic BioPysics). The premise of this technique is to combine standard chiropractic adjusting with mirror image (opposite position) postural adjustments, mirror image spinal/postural exercise as well as mirror image traction to provide longer lasting relief and improved health for patients through spinal as well as, postural correction. In short, we need the right form in order to have the right function no-matter what you are looking at this is true; doors don’t shut correctly if the jam is crooked etc. The differences I have seen with this technique in not only my patients but in myself as well became my passion! I what I do! Proper posture and regular adjustments (as well as a healthy lifestyle) is the key to health.

Since high school I have suffered from severe migraines with ringing in my ears due to grinding my teeth. I have found great relief working with a neuro-muscluar dentist in conjunction to getting adjusted. Because of this success I have an interest in aligning not only the spine but the TMJ as well.
